Here’s our candidate Anthony Cook on active service with 1 Royal Welsh, Helmand Province, Afghanistan in 2012
Anthony says, “Whilst I was with the armed forces I learnt teamwork, discipline, loyalty, leadership and how to work under pressure. My team mates had to have full trust in me and I had to have full trust in them in many situations.
“I learned to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures such as my fellow Welshmen and English, African, Fijian, Nepalese, Indian and Caribbean soldiers.
“I travelled to many parts of the world and learned to carry on when the going got tough. I met some of the most capable, pragmatic, robust and loyal people that will be friends for life.”
Since leaving the Army, Anthony’s worked as a slinger signaller, Hiab driver, builders yard operative, delivery driver and groundworker (and we had to look some of these up) and he’s currently an asbestos consultant working on various sites in Wales and the south of England

I joined the ‘old-style’ Mujahideen in the Soviet-Afghan war in the 1980s; I reverted to Islam but I am now a Catholic after fighting for Croats in the Balkans in the 90s!! I am a member of Gwlad now under the name: Llywelyn ap Dillwyn but I am Chris Thomas in Croatia!
